Student vs. Learner VIDEO

GREAT video! Let's talk here about what it means to us.

My interest lies in what do we value when we focus on the learner.

When we focus on the student we place value on grades and external assessments and TEACHING...when we focus on the learner we place value on LEARNING...How is this a paradigm shift? How have you experienced it? What is difficult about this shift?

Loved your video... great place to start a conversation with staff......is a concrete example for teachers to see the difference. I think these videos are great starters. Thanks for creating and sharing. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

What fun! I think I was a student years ago, but now I much prefer being a learner. Many times I have told parents of gifted and talented students that they need to encourage their students to get a B early on in college (after their straight A K-12 accomplishments) so that they can get on with their learning. I like azimmer's idea of using this film to start a conversation with staff. I also think it would be really instructive to show it to a group of students and then encourage a follow-up discussion of 21st century learning with them. Do you find this valuable?

Is anyone having such conversations with students? If so we'd love to hear about it here. We would especially love for them to "discuss" 21st Century learning as members of this community. Please invite your students to have this conversation and join this wiki to do so!
